Well, I had intended to update these whilst I was still pregnant but here I am sat with my three week old baby (three weeks already! They're not kidding when they say time flies). My second and third trimester were rather action packed- hence the lack of posts! My partner Billy and I have been in the process of moving into our own home since last April and we only finally moved in during my 30th week of pregnancy, which was both a blessing and a curse. It's lovely not being expected to lift and carry things but it's still emotionally and physically exhausting living in chaos and having to rely on everyone else for things...
The second trimester - weeks 14 to 26
According to most people the second trimester is the easiest and although I would have to say I never really got any annoying symptoms of pregnancy such as sickness, tiredness was definitely more manageable in the second trimester and I generally felt very happy and content. Of course one of the most exciting thing to happen during the second trimester is that you begin to feel your baby love/kick, I started to feel little flutters around 18 weeks and then full blown kicks within another week or two and it was incredible, it made everything seem so much more real especially when Billy felt it for the first time... Another great thing about the second trimester is your 20 week scan during which you can find out the sex of your baby. Billy and I both agreed from the start that we wanted to find out whether we were having a boy or girl as we felt it would make it feel more real and would enable us to give them a real name rather than baby Christie/jellybean as we'd been calling them...
We were both so happy to find out that we were expecting a little boy and luckily we had our boy name already chosen, Theo.
The third trimester - weeks 27 to 40
As previously mentioned during my third trimester myself and Billy went through a lot of upheaval with moving house and so I was really glad that I had decided to start my maternity leave at 34 weeks! I found the third trimester to be the hardest one, filled with back pain, restless legs and insomnia. I'd never even heard of pregnancy insomnia but good grief it was a pain in the bum for me every single night and when I didn't have the insomnia I would have raging heartburn, Rennies definitely became my best friend during the last few weeks.
