STUDENT ACCOMMODATION

Hey beauties!
Now I told you in my last post that I recently started university but I didn't state where or tell you anything about my new student life, I'm still not going to tell you which university I am studying at for privacy and security reasons but I can tell you that I am living in student accommodation, provided by the university.

When I knew for certain I wanted to go to university the next biggest decision I faced was whether to stay at home and commute to a nearby university or go to university and stay in halls (student accommodation), I remember talking things through with my mum and dad and surprisingly they both wanted me to stay in halls eventhough they know that I get home sick really easily, they told me that staying in halls for my first year wasn't something I would ever get to do again and now i'm actually living in halls I couldn't agree more.

Now, everyone knows themselves so I'm not saying, if you're someone who knows they would hate living in halls you should change your mind, because obviously you know you. However, what I can tell you is that if you are bordering on the decision of going to uni and living in halls but are thinking of staying home simply because it would mean having more money, having your mum to cook your food/wash your clothes and your own bed, don't!
Try out halls! If you don't like it you can get someone to rent your room off of you through the uni and go live back home as long as it isn't too far away, however if you do stay at home and then regret the decision, there's nothing you can do about it.

I've personally absolutely loved being in halls, I have the best, nicest most generous and lovely 5 people sharing a flat with me and two other awesome friends that live in the flat across the hall but spend more time in our flat than they do their own. Having experienced amazing nights out, a great birthday and so many laughs and special moments with these people and then having talked to people on my course who live at home, they are definitely missing out. Most of the people who decided to commute don't feel as involved with social aspects as they would like and regret opting to stay at home.

I honestly thought halls would be quite gross, not dirty but just old, used, a little dilapidated... you get the idea but I am pleased to say I am wrong, my halls aren't anything particularly new, infact they're probably quite old but once you have your personal belongings in your room, it soon becomes homely!

By adding bright colours into aspects such as your bedding, your room will appear happier, brighter and will be somewhere you'll want to spend time, which is important as you will spend many hours sat on the bed studying many, many textbooks.

By adding personal details such as photographs, make-up, flowers etc your room will seem a lot friendlier and less dull and dreary, this helps to stop you feeling homesick. Trust me no one wants to stare at those blue-grey walls all day.

I'll be posting more student related posts soon!
Lots of Love
