OBSESSION: SKATER DRESSES ♥
05:27For a long time I've bought dresses to go out in, whether it be for a meal of some sort or to go down town in. You'd think by now I would know which sort of dresses suit my body shape, wrong.
For Christmas, I bought this dress from www.Boohoo.com (a shop of lovely clothes, shoes and accessories at affordable prices, if you haven't already go check them out!) for £20.

Now it is a lovely dress and sparkles so much that the image really doesn't do the glitter any justice but it just doesn't float my boat. It has nothing to do with the dress itself, it is absolutely gorgeous but on me, it just doesn't look very good. I'm definitely not the skinniest of girls, I'm a size 10 on top because my waist is quite small, however my bum and my hips definitely reflect the amount of chocolate and sweet stuff I indulge in at a size 12. Now size 12 isn't that big, I know that and I don't mind being a size 12. But when you don't put weight on your waist or boobs at all and then have a larger bum and hips, some things tend to make you look a lot bigger than you are. This dress is one of them.
I don't know if I would be confident enough to wear this without a cardigan or something over the top to hide my wobbly bits, which is a shame because it's beautiful, it just accentuates the wrong areas too much as it is very clingy material.

Anyway, back on subject. So, even not too long ago I didn't know which dresses really suited my shape, hence the buying of the glitter dress! But then, when I was browsing through the sales in New Look, I spotted a dark blue skater dress, which sadly isn't available anymore but they have other similar dresses just not this exact one.
I instantly fell in love with it when I tried it on, it hugged me in the right place and skimmed my curves nicely. It's safe to say these are the only dresses i'm drawn to now as they're one of the only ones I feel comfortable in and I'm building quite a collection!
The left-hand photo does this dress no justice, so I added in a photograph of me wearing the dress, usually i'd team this dress with a nice pair of heels for a night out. However, my birthday this year was very unusual, I spent it in the hospital visiting my Daddy :) so we wanted to make an effort, seeing as it was my birthday so it was kind of dressy but then teamed with casual aspects to make it less formal (hence the converse).
I then bought recently this navy with white polka dots dress, it is obviously, again skater style but is a very casual dress, teaming it with black tights and casual accessories, this is how I wore it today. It's from Primark and was only £10, bargain!
