The Good, The Bad and The Downright Ugly - MAC Plum Bright Lustre Lipstick

06:26

Hey Everyone! So a while ago I really wanted to start adding a few more darker lipsticks to my collection when they were on trend at the beginning of Autumn. So I decided to get a range of dark reds, pinks and purples.

I had never purchased a MAC lipstick before and I decided with my want of new lipsticks I'd try one or two of theirs out. I ordered them off of the online website and they were delivered, so apart from the colour I didn't really know what to expect.

I thought the packaging was very nice, I've kept mine in their cardboard packaging so that, seeing as they are stood up in my lipstick tray I can easily see the names on top of the boxes rather than have to lift each out to find out what shade it is.

It is just in the classic black bullet MAC lipstick packaging. It is smart and elegant and I really like it compared to other brands' packaging.

As you can see the lipstick Plum Bright is a Lustre. Lustre Lipsticks are very sheer and glossy, now being a person that hates the feel of lipgloss but loves how it looks I thought this could be a great thing for me. However, the colour of this lipstick is very dark, therefore you have to apply a considerable amount to achieve high colour pay-off. If you don't you end up looking a little messy, it doesn't look great as there's patches of dark and then areas of light where the lipstick was sheerer. So I apply mine generously.

This was a few rubs of the lipstick onto my hand, as you can see it builds ok, which is good and you can also see very slightly where the pigmentation is a little better in some areas than others. Overall, if you are willing to build your lipstick up like me then it is a fabulous colour, slightly gothic but with the right eye make-up etc it's easy to pull of and has a nice glossy finish without having to apply lipgloss!
